Cornell & Diehl - Briar Fox 8oz
Alternative for Marlboro
To me, this blend is just a shade better than cigarette tobacco. I quit smoking cigarettes a long time ago and this blend pushes that button. The Virginias are not sweet enough and the burleys are too dry, and Marlboro-esq. No hay, tea, citrus, cocoa or nuts in this for my pallet, just dry hot smoke. Stored up what I bought for over a year, it had zero affect on this blend. Would make a good transition for someone coming out of cigarettes in to pipe tobacco - but a hard heck-no for me. I actually thought this is what burley tobacco was like so I steered clear of all burley blends until I got my hands on some Eight State Burley, now I'm hooked on GOOD burley blends. A little perique or DFKY could spice this one up if you were stuck with a tin you didn't like...

Cornell & Diehl - Midnight Orchard 2oz
Meh, Middle of the Road
The VA's take the lead role in this blend, I do like that. The perique is so far to the back that it is hardly noticeable - on par with Orlik for perique strength. The topping is very light but mildly pleasant. All in all, there is nothing that wow's me in this one. I am not an aromatic smoker but took a shot at it based on the video SP & Jeremy put out, I have a couple unopened tins for sale if someone wants them...

Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
Favorite VaPer of All Time!
I always have 10-12 tins of this in the cellar, and a jar full in my active rotation. The most elegant VaPer around - fruity, sweet, tangy, bready, with just the right amount of pepper - PERFECTION! Most definitely my desert island blend.

Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation - 1931 Flake 1.76oz
My Capstan Blue Replacement
I bought a few tins of this a year ago and stuck it in the cellar. Was thinking about opening a tin of Capstan this week and opened a tin of this instead - OMG, so glad I did that! For almost half the price, this blend hits all my buttons for a great Va/Bur. May put all of my aged Capstan Blue on a bid site and buy a couple sleeves of this! Not sure what this was like fresh, but with a year on it, sweet-honey-citrus-bready-raisin perfection right out of the tin!

Cobblestone - Outdoors Camping 1.75oz
Dried Out and Tasteless
Unfortunately bought 5 tins of this based on a trusted source... First tin was too far gone, completely dried out and unsmokeable. 2nd tin was nearly as bad, tried to rehydrate but the flavor had already dissipated beyond recovery. I'll pop the other tins to see if there is any worth saving, I have no reason to believe this tobacco is anything more than a complete waste of my money...

Lighters - Colibri Cigar Lighter - Pacific Air Black and Gunmetal
Junk
I have worn out two of these in 6 months - the clicker is junk... For the money, the quality should be WAY better than this. Just for clarity, I smoke two bowls per day. Save your money and buy something of better quality than this.

Capstan - Flake Blue 1.75oz
Too Pricey - Lost Value
This is a very good blend, but not for $25/tin - Capstan Blue has lost it's value for me... there are a number of Virginias I have found that are close enough for nearly half the price. STG is looking for the kind of margins they get with cigars with this product, and apparently are getting them! I've moved on...

Nørding - Labrador 2oz
Summertime Bliss
VaPers are hit or miss for me... Perique can sometimes be too bitey, but the Cavendish really knocks the edge off and refines this blend. This is definitely a homerun for me. Notes of sweet tea, bread, fresh cut hay, citrus and spice - everything I hope for out of a summertime bowl. Perfection. SmokingPipes cant seem to get it but I did find it at a B&M, fell in love, then bought more on another site that always has it in stock. You will not be disappointed with this amazing VaPer!

BriarWorks - Smokehouse 2oz
Wowza!
This blend is so complex, the flavor notes change all through the bowl providing a contemplative experience. The Virginias are muted, rich and sweet, latakia is the perfect blend in this mixture, and the DF Kentucky's crank up the smokiness to a "whole nutha level". The orientals are a nice touch, giving you a savory to the sweet. Reminds me of a BBQ picnic in the park - finger licking good... The Nic, oh the Nic - reminds you of why you like deep & dark blends. This new release at SmokingPipes was already out of stock, so I took a drive down to BriarWorks in Columbia, TN to get a few jars - fortunately only a 20 min drive. Highly recommend!
