Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
The Go To
Like Virginia, Turkish tobacco is one of the most recognized of the smoking tobaccos. Izmir Turkish Pipe Tobacco offers a dry, spicy smoke with a rich and complex character. It is not overly sweet on its own, allowing the natural tobacco flavor and distinctive Turkish spice to remain at the forefront. I especially enjoy blending it with Black Cavendish. The Cavendish adds sweetness and softness, creating a pleasant spicy-sweet combination that balances both tobaccos well. The result is smoother and more rounded while still retaining the character that makes Izmir distinctive. Overall, Izmir is a flavorful and versatile tobacco that works well by itself but becomes even more enjoyable as part of a personal blend.

Peterson - Sweet Killarney 50g
Sweet, Sweet Killarney
Sweet Killarney has a pleasant, sweet aroma with a fair and mellow body that makes it an enjoyable tobacco for a relaxed smoke. The flavor is smooth through most of the bowl and has enough character to remain interesting without becoming too heavy. It does develop a bit of tongue bite toward the end, especially if smoked too quickly, but that has not stopped it from becoming one of my favorites. I would place it just behind Eileen’s Dream in my regular rotation. Overall, Sweet Killarney is a flavorful and approachable aromatic tobacco with a welcoming room note and a mellow smoking character.

CAO - Eileen's Dream 50g
Mellow on any day
Eileen’s Dream is a sweet-smelling and mellow pipe tobacco that makes for an easy, relaxing smoke. The aroma is pleasant without being overpowering, and the flavor stays smooth throughout the bowl. It burns well in my pipe and is a good choice when I want something mild, enjoyable, and not too heavy. The 50-gram tin is also a convenient size for keeping on hand without committing to a large amount. Overall, Eileen’s Dream is a pleasant aromatic tobacco with a smooth character and an inviting room note.

Peterson - Derry Rusticated (304) Fishtail
A Sitter!
The Derry Rusticated (304) Fishtail is a handsome and practical tobacco pipe. I especially like the rugged rusticated finish, which gives the pipe plenty of character while also providing a secure, comfortable grip. The sitting design is another major advantage. It rests level on a flat surface without needing a separate pipe stand, making it convenient when preparing the bowl or setting it down between draws. The chamber is also well proportioned. It holds the right amount of tobacco for a satisfying smoke without committing you to an overly long session. It is neither too large nor too small—just a well-balanced pipe for regular use. Overall, this is an attractive, functional pipe with a traditional appearance and a very practical design.

Books - Pipe Smoking in Middle Earth: The Fellowship of the Smoke Ring 3rd Edition by Mark Irwin
A bit ol Toby
Lords of the Rings and the Hobbit has always been part of my life. Books and movies, I always remembered the various pipes seen in this series. Tolkien was an avid pipe smoker and even my own father was a fan of the smoking pipe. Now I am an avid pipe enthusiast and love looking up the various pipes and identifying them.

Kopp - Year of the Dragon 100g
Nice tin of tobacco
I do not smoke thos often but when I do, it is a fine bit of tobacco to fire up under starlight. This reminds me of the local tobacco produced in Dominica.

Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Spicey
Presbyterian Pipe Tobacco carries a pedigree often said to reach back to the First World War, and after opening the tin, that reputation begins to make sense. The aroma immediately reminded me of what my grandfather used to smoke—familiar, herbal, slightly bitter, and touched by the distinctive character of Latakia. The tobacco has a somewhat oily appearance and texture, which is noticeable along the inside of the tin, but it still packs and smokes well. The flavor is traditional, earthy, and more substantial than a sweeter aromatic blend. Overall, Presbyterian is a solid, old-fashioned tobacco with a great deal of character. It may not be for someone looking for a sweet or mild aromatic, but it is a good smoke for those who appreciate a more classic, herbal, and smoky blend.

Sir Walter Raleigh - Aromatic 7oz
Aromatic and fragrant
I have been a tobacco pipe smoker for close to two years now and I a. finding my way among the various types pf tobacco. This is my first bulk order of aromatic tobacco and so far, I like the flavor though at first it was a bit much to my virgin tastes. Still I believe it was a good blind choice as this was not previously rated nor had I any guidance from veterans within the hobby. Good container that seals, so my tobacco has an air tight container. This is one pf my favorites on a quiet Sunday. I am a big fan of pipe tobacco tins and this is my first modern container and with time will not be my last.

Peterson - Sherlock Holmes 50g
Elementary!
This went well with my Calabash pipe. I found the hint of citrus light and complimentary. One of my favorite tin tobacco.
