Cornell & Diehl - Gentleman Caller 2oz
A Piece of History
C&D does a great job of preserving and reintroducing traditional ingredients and methods of production. Deertongue was commonly used in old codger blends, and it's a piece of U.S. tobacco history. I'm glad this blend exists just to get a taste of that traditional combination. How does it smoke? It's quite good. Well blended and balanced. The deertongue gives it a unique herbal note, but not overwhelming. It's a mild VaBurPer with a little twist. Good natural sweetness. Any vanilla notes are subtle. Nice for what it represents and what it's supposed to be. The one star reviews don't do it justice.

Smokes nicely in a cob. Have it with a coffee on a quiet morning. Great start to the day.

  • ► It's a solid aromatic, in the C&D style. Flavoring is not over the top, but it's there. I get chocolat3 cake too, even though chocolate isn't listed as a topping. I enjoyed it, and bought a couple more tins on sale. Not sure why it prices at a premium to similar C&D options.
