I must admit, I was almost dissuaded from purchasing this pipe due to the sole review posted here, prior to my own. Almost. I am glad that I trusted my gut and took the leap anyways. I had watched numerous YouTube reviews of these Auenland pipes, put forth by people that I have found to be honest and forthright. So, I anxiously awaited the day when Smoking Pipes would have these in stock again. When they did, I was ready to pounce…until I read Lee’s review. I do not discredit his review of the pipe he received. I do not know the condition of the pipe he received beyond what he described. However, my recent purchase was not at all like the pipe he described. Beyond the beauty of its aesthetic, which I found very much mirrored the images posted here on the website, I find the pipe to be very well constructed. In terms of its build quality, it is a premium, factory-made pipe that holds its own in the company of stalwarts like Peterson and Savinelli. In relation to the bowl, to the naked eye, I found the stem to be perfectly and properly aligned and it fits snuggly in the mortise of the shank, without the gap mentioned in the other review and without any wobble or looseness. Admittedly, for a non-artisanal pipe, it is a relatively expensive pipe (as everything nowadays seems to be), but I would wholeheartedly disagree with it being low quality or shoddy. I very much look forward to smoking this pipe and, assuming it functions as good as it looks, buying more Auenland pipes to add to my collection and rotation.
