Polish artisan Wojtek Pastuch is a talented artisan, having carved pipes since age 15. His style incorporates influences from the Danish school and Anglo-French design to create a sleek and organic aesthetic all his own. This bent Rhodesian is a fine example of Pastuch's affinity for reimagining classic shapes. A compact take on Comoy's vintage "499" Bullmoose, this piece presents a traditional Rhodesian bowl that displays the tapered rim and beadlines of its traditional forbears atop a smooth sloping heel. The muscular round shank curves smoothly into downturned vulcanite stem in a stylish "S" bend that maintains a near-parallel height with the bowl's rim. The composition is further elevated by a Corian accent band at the conjunction, adding a burst of color to the otherwise dark palette. A unique synthetic material, Corian was created by DuPont in 1967, and it's a composite of acrylic and the mineral gibbsite. Dressed in a glossy black sandblast, the stummel boasts impeccable ring grain that ripples up the bowl, perfectly contrasted by a ruby-tinged inner rim.
