Smooth Bulldog Tobacco Pipe

Only the second Bulldog we've received from Johannes Rasmussen of Suhr pipes, this is a remarkable rendition with a full-bodied bowl maintaining the preponderance of the visual weight of the piece. At just over five inches in length, it's a medium-sized pipe despite the large proportionate appearance of the bowl. The waistline is marked by two crisp beadlines, the upper line circling the waist with the other just below.

The base is crisply pointed near the center of the heel where the lowest line of the diamond shank extends. That shank is precisely geometrical, leaving the bowl at a tight transition that maintains the bowl's shaping. The ridgelines of the shank extend briefly into the stem, which quickly flattens to a saddle configuration. Birdseye dominates the broad dome of the rim, though horizontal grain is also evident in sparse amounts. A very light stain elevates the pristine nature of the briar, which is silky smooth throughout its form. Certainly not a standardized Bulldog, this composition offers plenty of personality and a decidedly cultured aesthetic.
