Sandblasted Acorn Sitter Tobacco Pipe

During his years of carving, Lasse Skovgaard has taken special interest in the Acorn, making it one of his signature shapes with his own unique interpretative skills. This piece is an example of how a shape may be modestly modified for profound results. Note the curves of the pipe in silhouette — natural, sweeping, organic curves define this piece. The underside of the pipe maintains a parabola echoed by the curve at the top of the shank, then again by the undersweep of the mouthpiece at the junction of stem and shank, and adds a concise flattened spur for sitting capabilities, though the gentle curvature continues.

At the top of the bowl, that gently arced aspect is stylized with a scalloped treatment that is slightly asymmetrical, adding to the organic impression of the shape, as a low-profile sandblast textures the stummel for a comfortable piece that well reflects the talents of its maker.
