About This Pipe
I mistook this piece as a Horn, at first. It's an easy mistake, with the forward-ebbing motion of the bowl, the subtle transition, and the sleek turn of the shank, all giving the same fluid impression that a Horn might in profile. But this bent Dublin has a good bit more flare to its rim, echoed in the subtle flare of the shank end, than the Horn, and its bowl is more upturned. Paired to a low-profile sandblast, tan finish, and a hint of plateau around its thick rim, it comes across as organic nonetheless — and is a stunning example of Sam Adebayo's ability to hone in on the details of each piece, producing subtle shapes that defy much of our simple lexicon.
