Partially Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

A highly organic form with precise, almost geometric line work, this bent Dublin from Ken Dederichs is asymmetrically shaped with the carver's eye inclined toward the briar's grain orientation. The pipe's flaring, mushroom-like rim is simply sublime in profile, the mahogany contrast stain showing off a veritable sea of gorgeous birdseye. The remainder of the stummel wears one of the Germany-based, Japanese artisan's extra-dark sandblasts that highlights some phenomenal, pronounced growth rings, with a trim ring of pale boxwood lending contrast. Along with the line work, the carver clearly appreciates supple curves and somewhat stout proportions, as the bowl is full-bodied and fits comfortably in hand.
