About This Pipe
Danish carver Peter Heding has taken a few tilts at the Bo Nordh attributed Ramses shape over the years. We've even gotten our hands on a couple ourselves, and as you might expect, they never fail to deliver. Most notable about Heding's rendition is the treatment of the bowl which, usually more Egg like, here takes cues from the Volcano, with the back of the bowl tapering sharply to the rim from the transition. Peter has also used the stem base to good effect, continuing the leaf like line of the shank into a point, with a second transition behind it to the bit itself. And the grain? Perfectly oriented, of course, with flame grain around the bowl and continued along the edge of the shank, with nothing but birdseye at the rear.
