About This Pipe
This isn't the first of this type of bent Dublin we've seen from Hans "Former" Nielsen. A firm line to its underside, from heek to shank end, as well as some crisp paneling to the shank, makes for a piece that feels quite structured all around. As for the bowl, it is forward-canted and flaring, with a broad rim decked in plenty of plateau - the perfect accent, really, as despite this piece's structured core, the deep lines of growth rings brought out by the sandblasted finish give it a whole lot of organic charm. It's fine, elegant work from one of the forefronts of the Danish pipemaking community, and sure to please those fans of Former's more traditional work, despite its modern appeal.
