About This Pipe

Tom Eltang has a design vision that is truly unique in the pipe world. He continuously discovers new ways to bring beauty to a simple basic form of a pipe. As you can easily recognize, this form is far from simple or basic. The rim is dramatically concave, with more substance at the far side of the bowl than the near, and it would be pretty difficult to spill tobacco when filling it. The bowl is long and slender, descending to the pointed heel and providing a Pickaxe-like character. The transition is wide, which helps maintain the independent nature of the bowl, with a wide transition of evident comfort. The shank curves upward, contracting and then expanding gently up to the mouthpiece, the face of which continues the tapering until the sudden reduction for the saddle configuration. From there it's long and slender, helping the composition maintain an open and airy, demure and trim character. Impressively intuitive in hand, with a tall tobacco chamber for longer durations with this remarkable Dublin.
