About This Pipe
"A light composition of asymmetry" were the first words to come to my mind looking over this Asteriou straight Dublin. The "light" aspect is well covered by both the pale contrast finish and the lines of the design itself, the latter giving the shape a very trim, cutting silhouette I'd even say was a bit reminiscent of the leaner sharper old Kriswill shapes — and doing this despite both the shank-end and the rim coming to fairly broad flares, and the bowl actually being pretty thick-walled in places. As for the "asymmetry", well, aside from the drilling and the saddle bit, there isn't anything about this design that is not asymmetrical, Chris having deftly tweaked the taper and cross-sections of both bowl and shank in a very sleek play of the "balanced asymmetry" pioneered by Tokutomi.
