About This Pipe
If there's a traditional Chonowitsch shape, this is it. A classic Brandy bowl is paired with bamboo and a saddle stem for an efficient and beautiful smoking instrument. As always, it's the details that make this piece. The bowl rim is softly rounded and reveals a perfect spattering of birdseye. The transition from bowl to shank, perhaps the most difficult area for any pipemaker, perfectly maintains the shape of the bowl and introduces the briar shank, which seamlessly evolves to bamboo. The stem subtly flares outward from the shank and steps down to the saddle configuration of the mouthpiece. The joy in a piece like this comes from examination: Every angle, every connection, every transition provides a new delight.
