About This Pipe
Claudio Cavicchi is a skilled pipe maker with over 50 years of experience, known for his remarkable ability to highlight the intricate grain of each block of briar and transform it into stunning pieces. Showcasing that talent is this handsome bent Dublin, possessing a tall, flaring bowl at the fore of a tapering shank-and-stem combination, proportions characteristic of the Pesaro school of design. The bowl's walls flare from a heel that is imbued with an extra bit of muscularity, creating a nice heft when held in the hand. A rugged stretch of plateau crowns the tall bowl, introducing an organic touch to the composition. The shank is low-set to the bowl, accentuating the fore's height before it tapers into a sleek, black acrylic stem. The stummel is dressed in one of Cavicchi's classic brown smooth finishes, and as expected from his work, the grain is remarkable: flame grain climbs the bowl's flanks and continues along the side of the shank, perfectly framing the pipe's shaping.
