Marking Benni Jørgensen's 40th year of pipe making, this Tomato offers remarkable shaping and grain, denoted by the carver's heralded Swan stamp. The bowl maintains impressive independence of form with tight cheeking at the transition and a smooth lower shank that extends below the bowl and partway up the far side, leaving the impression that the bowl is perched atop the smooth curvature.

The smooth aspect of the undercarriage curves over the end of the shank in dramatic contrast of texture and color, and the offset base of the saddle stem contributes to the impression of acceleration for this remarkable composition. Natural in hand, with a low, plump bowl textured to adhere to one's finger pads, it's a pipe with loads of personality to go with its expert construction and visionary shaping.
