About This Pipe
A little more restrained take on the Volcano from Jeff, this polished rendition makes deft use of a bevel to both just-slightly soften the shape and make it a bit more complex in terms of planes. The bevel I'm talking about is the one that runs from the top of the shank-end down along the order of the underside, to the heel, then all the way back again. This replaces the single edge I've seen Jeff use before with two less acute, giving the shape a more composed and less aggressively crisp composure. (My first impression when I picked this Volcano up was that it called to mind a beautifully made stringed instrument — like, say, a violin or cello.) Also, it plays very well as a framing device for the birdseye of the underside.
