About This Pipe
Though his shaping style can vary considerably from piece to piece, one common theme in Micah "Yeti" Cryder's designs is the juxtaposition of firm stance and playful line. One of his longer variations, this "Long Shank" Tomato is a fine example of that signature aesthetic.
The broad, high-set waistline, strong taper down to the sweeping heel, and neat forward cant lend the bowl a supple softness, while the elongated, stout oval shank, in contrast, seemingly thrusts the form forward with its firm, upward-lifting lines lending the profile a powerful, implied acceleration. The result is a beautiful marriage of the organic and the industrial — a combination that has propelled Yeti pipes into the forefront of the American pipe-making scene.
