About This Pipe

Though still pleasingly plump either way, the superb roundness of the form, especially along the near-spherical curvature of the for and aft, does blur the lines somewhat between the classic Egg and Apple shapes — emphasized by the unique treatment of the shank and transition, which are pinched and paneled to create a trim rectangular form that seems to flair out into the soft lines of the bowl. The line sweeping across the underside accentuates this as well, as it reaches all the way from shank-end to rim without interruption. This aesthetic is mirrored in the bowl's slightly elongated form as viewed from above or below. It's presented here in a warm, subtle contrast and crisp sandblast, revealing layer after layer of undulating rings. That handsome celluloid accent adds a rather nice bit of contrast as well, especially when paired with a cumberland stem.
