Goblin Smooth Grey (99) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe

The "99" bent Apple from Rattray's is a shape found only in the Scottish marque's Goblin and Fachen series, and as such, it's a compact rendition ideal for hands-free smoking. It maintains a good deal of substance, however, remaining comfortable in hand, and the stout proportions of the shank do well to match the bowl's robust, low-set waistline — meaning there's plenty of insulation around the chamber and room to accommodate a 9mm filter in the tenon and mortise.

In European folklore, goblins are ghoulish, often grotesque and impish creatures bent on mischief. Rattray's line of the same name forgoes such fiendish traits, sharing only the mythical beasts' small stature. The series presents a variety of short, compact pipes of Nosewarmer dimensions in an array of handsome finishes, similar in size to the Scottish marque's Outlaw and Misfit lines. They're perfect for on-the-go smoking sessions when pocketability and a comfortable, lightweight size are paramount, with this particular example found in a smooth, grey finish for an understated, smoky aesthetic.
