About This Pipe

Offering much the same benefits as a corn cob pipe, these hardwood smokers are light, handy, and crazy inexpensive; great for keeping in your car or truck (the plastic mouthpieces won't oxidize), or for trying out new blends with a virgin chamber.

Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.

I picked this up specifically for travel and lunting, not knowing quite what to expect from a hardwood pipe. It may turn out to be one of the most practical pipes I own. First and foremost: comfort. I’m not usually a clencher because most pipes eventually put noticeable pressure on my teeth. This one is different. It’s by far the most comfortable pipe I own for hands-free use. While it’s not completely weightless, it becomes barely noticeable over time. If I’m walking, whittling, or working on a project with my hands occupied, this is the pipe I reach for. It smokes cool as long as you keep a disciplined cadence. I tend to sip slowly—one draw every five or six breaths—and it performs very well at that pace. There were no moisture issues at all at this pace -- even in the wet PNW climate. It’s durable enough to toss into a bag for a weekend trip without worrying about it. One thing worth noting: the hardwood does impart a slight toasty or nutty character to the smoke- one which isn't characteristic for a FVF. It wasn’t unpleasant and didn’t bother me at all when I was using it as a working pipe, but if I’m sitting down to carefully analyze the nuances of a tobacco, I’d reach for briar instead. This pipe shines when the mind and hands are occupied. I would recommend it to beginners—provided they’ve already learned to slow their cadence. It’s not a pipe for aggressive puffing- I think it would get too hot if that's your style. But for someone looking for a well built, comfortable, hands-free smoker for outdoor use or projects, it’s an outstanding value. Pros: Extremely comfortable for clenching compared to most briars Lightweight and easy to manage during hands-busy tasks Smokes cool when cadence is disciplined No moisture issues; easy to run a cleaner mid-smoke Durable and travel-friendly — toss in a bag without anxiety Excellent value for a dedicated utility pipe Ideal for lunting, yard work, whittling, or projects Cons: Hardwood imparts a slight toasty/nutty note to the tobacco Not ideal for focused flavor analysis or delicate blends Requires a slow cadence — punishes aggressive puffing Aesthetic is utilitarian rather than refined Doesn’t offer the flavor neutrality of quality briar...Read More

The design is beautiful. This is my first non-cornwood pipe from Missouri Meerschaum. It's supposedly made of maple, but I don't know much about it. It's very comfortable to use, with no unpleasant smells, and it's very lightweight. I use it frequently.
Weird taste

It might just be the one I bought since i bought it from "Pipesandcigars.com" but the first few bowls I smoked had this awful chemical taste to it. And no it wasn't the tobacco I was smoking. It lasted for about until the inside was completely darkened. So watch out for that.

Other than that
it smokes ok. Wish I spent the money on a cob to be honest....Read More
