Sandblasted Fig Sitter with Horn (750) Tobacco Pipe

The Fig is an Adam Davidson signature shape, though here, Jerry Zenn has put his own spin on this design. Retaining the plump bowl and strong taper, at its base the small spur has been given slightly more prominence, allowing this piece to sit quite neatly on a flat surface. While the stummel has been finished in a red-hued sandblast that is quite striking on its own, here it has been paired with a lengthy stretch of shank extension, crafted from natural horn, and sporting some smoky, unpredictable coloring that offers an excellent contrast. Delicately balanced, it's a step outside of the usual Danish and Japanese aesthetic Zenn's work usually follows, though he has managed the leap with aplomb.
