About This Pipe

Columbus, Ohio, where Bill Shalosky learned his craft, has a rich pipe history. For some reason, it's a region with a high population of pipe smokers, perhaps because good pipe shops have been based there for decades. At any rate, Bill learned his craft in an environment where smokers knew their stuff and didn't put up with second-rate carving, and his propensity for exceeding expectations is easy to recognize in this bent Dublin. He forgoes his tendency to emphasize a disposition of plump, rounded shapes to explore a sleek, lithe organicism that is unexpected in a shape like this. Elongated, with plateau at shank end and rim, it echoes design elements from the Danish revolution, but does so with a more modern, sophisticated overview of line and silhouette. And the grain is stunning.
