To me, that describes this outstanding natural burley blend from Peter Stokkebye. I’m a lover of burley above all other tobacco, and this Toasted Burley encapsulates perfectly what I love about it. The natural sugars in this ready-rubbed/broken flake presentation oddly remind me of Virginias, but with a very bold and robust nuttiness instead of the grassy breadiness.

Caramelized Sugar, Nutmeg, Nutty... it can bite.

Rubbed flake, maple sugar sweet, nutty with a slight nutmeg spice-like flavor. Molasses, black liquorice and earthy autumn leaf litter note in the bag. Consistent flavor profile as the sweetness supersedes the typical bitterness encountered in burley. Room note is also surprisingly good for a burley. I suspect the liquorice was added during casing and the maple sugar added just prior to pressing and heating, creating a caramelized profile which is a dark sweetness that balances exceptionally well with burley. Due to it's rubbed-out flake form, it requires more re lights and more attention. Smoked slow or fast, nevertheless it'll bite the crap outta your tongue, much like Mac Baren. I enjoy the flavor, though the tongue bite and constant relights prevent me from enjoying the entire experience. It's a 2.5 star flavor but the mechanics and bite drop it 2 stars....Read More

If you are a Burley fan, this is one fine smoke. This is, in my opinion a bit more nutty, a little less sweet than Kentucky Fired .
