About This Cigar
Surrogates cigars is the brainchild of Dan Welsh and Tatuaje cigars founder Pete Johnson, starting as a highly exclusive side project before being fully introduced to the cigar smoking public in 2012. The brand is unique, taking a boutique approach to blending that treats each blend as a small-batch, limited edition release while maintaining full-scale, regular production. Surrogates' name is a direct reference to this style, whereby each cigar they produce is styled after the blends of prominent limited edition cigars from across the world of craft and boutique cigars, creating surrogates for these blends that are celebrated throughout the smoking public.
The Animal Cracker is one of Surrogates' most iconic cigars, and it was originally released as a singular 6 x 60 Gordo in 2013. The blend boasts an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper atop Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, culminating in a medium-to-full-bodied smoke that's rich with complex flavors of espresso, spice, and leather. In 2015, Surrogates introduced the Cracker Crumbs cigar, a scaled-down Animal Cracker which utilizes the same blend as its larger sibling, all in a petite 4 1/2 x 38 short corona vitola. Cracker Crumbs are rolled in My Father Cigars' Nicaragua factory and come with pre-cut caps: here available in a pack of five.
