Creamy and Smooth - A Very Fine Latakia

* UPDATED 5/9/24* Just opened a tin from 2015 (9 years) and the VA, which was once a notable sweetness is now an assertive sweetness, almost candied sweet and leaves a sweet aftertaste. The latakia is still very mild. Why they discontinued this is beyond me, it was a great latakia flake. With age,,, my gosh this is amazing! New, this was smooth, and with age it's gotten even silky smooth. Such a shame this isn't made any longer. This is my last tin and has been jarred. This will be a special treat for me now. *2020 Review: This is a very fine cold-pressed Latakia. I suspect this may be mildly-fired as it’s VERY creamy and woody with a mild cedar/pine nuance and possesses very little of the creosote we often encounter. This isn’t your average Latakia, and in proper proportion to the VA... oh my. It’s a supportive ratio with perhaps 20%, which allows for a refined, mild and balanced mixture - allowing the pressed VA to really shine. While we typically think of Latakia as an autumnal and winter leaf, this one is surprisingly mild enough for summer. Sweetness is negligible as the VA is bready and just a tad grassy. This tobacco at the start has a little bite, however half way through the bowl is mellows out. I don't remember any Latakia that I would describe as creamy. Its more of a Virginia blend with some Latakia added Its not bad but to mild for my taste.

So mild english is not a good description for this smoke. Just cause it has latakia in it does nkt make it an english. Imho. But that aside this is a great mild smoke. No bite, great taste (although its almost too mild, good morning smoke) easy to rub out amd pack. I would deff keep a few tins in the cellar....Read More

For a latakia blend I consider this mild. I smoke it folded in various large bowls so I can enjoy it for a long smoke. The blend of VAa and Latakia is near perfect to my mind. It doesn't require smoking slowly like a straight VA but all the delicious VA flavor comes through, enhanced by the perfect amount of Latakia flavor without being overpowering. I normally smoke VA and VA/Pers with a Latakia blend about 25% of the time, but if you really want more Latakia flavor that is easier on the palate, give this a try....Read More
