About This Pipe Tobacco

Seattle Pipe Club's Down Yonder blend comprises rare Brazilian Virginia leaf that's been stoved and pressed into a crumble cake. The stoving process, a favorite of Seattle Pipe Club's late blender, Joe Lankford, lends extra flavor and nuance to the blend, while the crumble cake format deepens and marries those same amplified flavors.

I've been smoking this as my go-to blend since it first came out in Aug. 2023 if I'm not mistaken. That first run was excellent and when I bought the October run...not as good but still a good smoke. I like the crumble cake and the wife likes the aroma and that's a plus. It's a smooth, no bite blend that burns to ash in the right pipes. I have been switching between DY, 40th Anniversary and Black Woods Flake. I prefer DY and have put some extra in storage but wish I had more of that introduction blend....Read More

It’s quite funny how divided the reviews are on this blend. You go to one forum you hear one thing, one Facebook group you hear another. Well someone mentioned this reminded them of Sutliff 507s, a stoved virginia bulk that Sutliff makes. (Let’s not forget that Sutliff does all the blending for Seattle Pipe Club blends) I dig out my bag of Pipe force samples and the sample of Down Yonder. After three bowls this very basic stoved virginia really does taste just like Sutliff 507s just pressed into a cake. I even did a side by side and they were very similar....Read More
Good blend but…

Product: Seattle Pipe Club Down Yonder 2oz
This is a tasty blend but in no way warrants $20 this is a $10 basic blend wrapped in a $10 SPC tin. If this was $10-12 I may put some away to age but for the $20 I won’t buy this again and at this price point there isn’t a SPC blend I will buy again.
Pressed 507-S???

Agree with W.W. - yep. In my opinion, that's EXACTLY what this is. I love Sutliff's 507-S stoved VA... one of the best, but to press it into a cake, tin it and charge $10/oz vs $3/oz for the bulk rough cut??? Come on... I mean the tin art is cool, but there's absolutely no difference in flavor. Does that empty tin really cost $14? My rating reflects the taste less the price and the idea/practice to sell the same item for $14 more - under the guise of something 'new'. Good product - questionable practice....Read More
Needs age. Lots of age.

Tastes exactly like states of Virginia. Also like Cringle flake. At least to me. I’m going to put it away in my broom closet for a few years and smoke my full virgina flake till then. Over hyped imo.
