Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Westmorland Slices
Dark Flake’s milder cousin
This is a wonderful flake! The dark fired Virginias have a bbq element to them without being overpowering in nicotine or flavor. It is in the same vein as dark flake but less robust. It reminds me of old dark fired. I love it!

Super fragrant, baking spices style English
I don’t know if it’s the vintage Latakia or the particular orientals, but this mixture has such a nice incense type smell and baking spices type flavor. My lady remarked on how fragrant this is. If you like English mixtures with that complex oriental note, this is a real winner! I bought 3 more tins after getting one.

Nice stout, chocolately burley blend with a predilection for tongue bite when moist.
I really enjoy this! It has a rich, cocoa/chocolate type flavor that reminds me of a sweeter, stronger version of Pegasus. It says it has perique, but I was not able to detect it. This blend does come very wet, and it does have a topping of some sort. I'd suggest drying it out well because I have gotten some tongue bite from this blend.

Very nice but tread a little lightly
This is a pretty great burley blend. I'm always on the lookout for those! It has a very nice, nutty, sweet flavor. The one thing to keep an eye on--which seems to be something to consider with many HU blends--is that they are both VERY moist and have a sweetish topping. You really need to dry this out and puff a little carefully because I have gotten some tongue bite from this blend. Otherwise, great stuff!

Wonderful--great replacement for Kendal Flake
I was very sad when G and H discontinued Kendal Flake. However, I had always heard of this as a mythical, floral tobacco that rarely came to this side of the pond. When it became available, I pounced on it, and it is divine! Many of the same floral notes I love in Kendal Flake and with a pronounced sweetness. This may be my new favorite Lakeland!

10 Sleeper Blends From Cornell & Diehl
- ► I totally agree about the Black Duck and Kelly's Coin. Black Duck led me to Black Mallory, and now I love Scottish mixtures! Speaking of which, I'll have to try the Strathspey now!

- ► I'd add a few things to this list for sure. Haunted Bookshop is a real winner for me. Best burley blend ever! Also, Quiet Nights and Black Mallory/Red Rapparee. Those are fabulous. And Lakelands:1792 Flake, Bosun Cut Plug, Brown Flake Aromatic, etc., are very good in winter to me!
