Cornell & Diehl - Orion's Arrow
C&D noob
This is the second offering I've tried from Cornell and Diehl. It's definitely a winner. Main thing I taste, like most people, is the perique. To me it tastes like slightly unripe berries or an apricot that is just as freshly picked. Sometimes it's really peppery as well, but not every time. The flavor is pretty subtle, but very pleasing. I haven't had a sweet bowl yet, it's very dry to me like a brut champagne. The orientals aren't that tangy in my opinion. It seems like everything else in the mix is just the stage that the perique is singing from. That's totally fine by me. Sometimes I get a really interesting, almost cheese-like funk I don't know if that comes from the orientals or the perique; but I really like it. It's definitely a unique blend. I ordered Oriental silk at the same time as this, because I'm just really pumped about Oriental forward blends right now and I thought Perique in there would be a whole new ball game, and it totally is. Anyways for my tastes Oriental silk gets the combination just right. For some reason though I find myself grabbing this jar more often. It's more mysterious and intriguing, Oriental silk is more bright and playful. Orion's arrow, is must try if you're a perique lover like me. I don't really find it too "in your face", it's not really heavy on the nicotine or the flavor. It does have a slight Nic kick to it, compared to my usual smokes these days. The unique tanginess that's present throughout the bowl, and the Oriental funkiness that starts it off and ends it makes for a very interesting and pleasing smoke. I was kind of like "what the heck was that? Idk but I kind of like it let's have some more, then the feeling grew stronger with each new pack. For my taste the best experience comes from a wider gauge bowl. It turns the volume up a little on the flavor. It's fast becoming a favorite of mine and this along with the other two C&D blends (oriental silk, tuggle hall) have made me a lifelong fan. I wish I knew sooner. Now I got to try all of them I guess.
