Sutliff - SPS-2000 Sunset Rum
Flavorful but rough on the tongue...
I tried this blend based on others' reviews. While it did have a very good taste of rum, it burned like hell. The tip of my tongue felt like it had a paper cut. The main reason for 3 1/2 star rating was that I just couldn't keep this blend lit no matter how many tips and tricks I tried. For a seasoned hobbyist, this might be a good blend for you. I don't recommend it as a starter aromatic blend. My favorite is Sutliff's Irish Creme.
Sutliff - Buttered Rum
Buttery with a sharp bite...
I sampled this aromatice blend based on other hobbyist's reviews. I did not like it. I could not taste any hint of rum, and barely a hint of butter. This blend had a sharp bite to it. I tried this blend in eight different pipes...Briar and Meerschaum...the bite was unavoidable.
Sutliff - Irish Creme
Super smooth...
I am semi-new to the hobby. I started smoking pipes back in the '80s...here and there...never a daily smoker. I chose Smokingpipes.com because of their tremendous variety of tobaccos and prices. I chose three Sutliff bulk aromatics to sample, based on other hobbyists' reviews. I found that the Irish Creme was by far my favorite of the three. It has no bite whatsoever; the flavor was just perfect...not too strong, not too weak; it's not exactly like the flavor you would get from shot of Irish Cream, but it sure is close. There is a smooth, creaminess to this aromatic. There is a "buttery" finish more so than a "cream" finish to it. Both the whiskey and cream notes are subtle, but discernable. I like the fact that this blend is low nicotine. For just a bit over $2 for 1oz...it's worth a smoke. I really like this blend!
