Cornell & Diehl - Palmetto Balkan 8oz
Major Disappointment
I guess you could say that I too fell for the hype and 60-some dollars later (cost with shipping, taxes etc.) buyer's remorse has set in big time....weak, one dimensional, burns fast, bland and a a rather objectionable nothing like taste devoid of complexity. Hopefully it will get better with age but usually blends I don't like only get less bad with age. 90 percent of the blends I have tried from C&D (all Balkans and English) have been excellent. Palmetto Balkan is an anomaly for sure. I am not one to exaggerate or resort to hyperbole but PB is without a doubt the worst Balkan I have ever sampled since I started my pipe smoking journey in 1970. Where these stellar ratings are coming from I have no idea.

Certainly different but not in a good way.
I just opened a 2-year factory sealed can I laid aside and found it to be sour and sweet at the same time. Latakia? I guess it’s there somewhere but certainly not a prominent player. The sourness though is just too much and not to my liking. Quite moist out of the can so needs some dry time. Burns well but not something I would buy again.
