Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning 8oz
This has become one of my staple tobaccos
This is a tobacco that I enjoy more and more as time goes by. This is such a satisfying VaPer blend with the strong perique and great Virginia tobaccos. I like this blend in ribbon and in the flake cut, but both get better with a little drying.
Cornell & Diehl - Firebird Flake 2oz
Great limited release with interesting aged tobaccos
This is a really good tobacco with complex flavor when you slow it down. Its dark fired tobacco pairs nice with the condimental tobaccos. It reminds me of a good English minus the Latakia. I’ve only had one bowl and next time I’ll pair it with a good coffee. I can’t wait to try it with a few years on it. I recommend giving this one a try. To the entitled children leaving bad reviews because they missed out on a limited release, grow the heck up. Seriously, you are NOT entitled to buy it just because you think you are. I’ve missed numerous limited releases and you know what never crosses my mind, leaving a bad review because I missed out. You skew the rating and embarrass yourself.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Aniseed Twist
What a great aromatic!!
This tobacco really surprised me. I’ve tried several of GH twist tobaccos, which I like, but this one is very different. If you love the flavor of black licorice this tobacco is for you. On opening the bag I smelled sweet anise/licorice and this is one of the free tobaccos that tastes like it smells. On my first free puffs I was surprised how the sweet black licorice flavor came through and remained throughout the bowl. Like other GH twists you can also chew this one. While pipe making I don’t smoke s pipe much because I’m so engrossed with what I’m doing I don’t enjoy the tobacco, but I find myself cutting a little off the twist and chewing it. I bought 8oz of the tobacco and will be back to but a pound of it to cellar.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Whisky Twist
Wow, this tobacco surprised me
I bought a pound of this tobacco a few years back and just popped the jar to give it a try. I used a cigar cutter to cut thin slices and then rubbed it out. After letting it dry for about 30 minutes I lit it up. This tobacco is amazing. It has a sweetness that is subtle and a nice strength to it. I smoked the bowl packed almost to the top down to ash not wanting it to end. Someone else mentioned bite from this tobacco but I experienced none whatsoever.
Orlik - Golden Sliced 100g
Still my favorite tobacco
This is one tobacco that I always come back to. I love trying new tobaccos and enjoying the variety out there, but Orlik Golden Sliced is such an amazing tobacco I can easily call my favorite. This is a tobacco that really changes depending on how you smoke it. To really get the full experience I sip the smoke in one of my smaller pipes with a 3/4" bowl paired with a nice drink. If I smoke it while working on a pipe or doing another task I smoke it too fast and don't get the full enjoyment.
Stands & Pouches - Dunhill 1-Pipe Flap Companion
Perfect size pipe pouch
I had a less expensive pipe pouch that I had for over 12 years and somehow it fell out of my travel bag and lost it on a flight. I decided to pay a bit more for a quality pipe pouch since I'll have this one for the next 20 years. The quality of this pouch is exactly what you'd expect from Dunhill. The leather is the softest and highest quality leather. The sizing of the tobacco area, the lighter and tamper, and the pipe storage area are exactly what they need to be. It fits my medium sized Bing's Favorite and bent pipes like a glove. It might be too small for large pipes, but I bought is for travel or when I'm out on the town. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a pipe pouch to carry everything you'll need to enjoy your pipe.
Cornell & Diehl - Anthology 1992-2022 2oz
Amazing Va/Per!
This is a special Va/Per that was was masterfully blended. The Virginias are sweet and savory and there is just the right amount of perique that it compliments but doesn't dominate.
BriarWorks - Back Down South 2oz
Extremely good blend
I had a sample of this before it was released so I was waiting to hit the market. I truly enjoy this Virginia perique blend. The tin note is, as the previous reviewer said of orange soda. There seems to be very light topping the sets this Virginia perique apart from others. This is one that I'm going to buy more of to put in the cellar
