Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Gold
Application matters
I've been smoking this tobacco for the last 4-5 years now in rotation with D&R 3 sails and GLP penny farthing. I can without a doubt say that, of the 3, this is my favourite tobacco for RYO applications. Its smooth and strong, drys nicely, sifted for stems and cut very fine. A real treat to roll and to smoke. As a result, I've turned several RYO smokers onto it and all have agreed, it's a choice option. That being said, its absolutely mediocre as a stand alone pipe tobacco. The taste is 1 dimensional, a bit harsh and truthfully, burns much too hot. Add a pinch in with some KFC or Oriental based blends and it again has a wonderful use. Which leads me back to the title, "application matters"! Happy smoking

Butera - Royal Vintage: Matured Ribbon 50g
one of my favourites!!
this tobacco is my go-to. ive enjoyed smoking this blend more than any other butera. it is like smoking a real good barbeque sauce, oddly enough. its sweet and tangy and has a long mellow finish. It is a sipping tobacco and should not be "freight-trained". you will burn your mouth horribly! It is very reasonably priced. I have several tins loaded up in the cellar because its some great stuff and i am hopping with age, the blend will get even better.
