G. L. Pease - Sixpence 2oz
Full and Rich
The flavor is smooth with a great body to the smoke and I would recommend to anyone that enjoys cigars. The Virginias are not as tangy and the DFK is not as smokey as expected, but instead compliment each other to produce a wholesome blend of flavor. Perique comes through further in the bowl and when paired with the DFK lends to greater strength than one might anticipate. A blend that would lend itself to a good book with just enough complexity to stay interested but not so much as to distract.

Cornell & Diehl - Sun Bear Navy Cask 2oz
Bright, Floral and Sweet
The Virginias are very bright and forward on the palette, the Thai and Turkish compliment the honey for a floral note, and the boozy notes are fairly apparent. I think this blend will really shine with some age after the flavors have a chance to mingle and deepen but after only one year they come across as a little harsh and bright even when enjoyed slowly. I will return to this after a few more years.

Peter Stokkebye - PS400 Luxury Navy Flake
A Classic
Lots of flavor for a VaPer with a good a balance between bright notes with some deeper notes from the perique, but missing many notes in between. I have turned to this flake often, but find that it can be an acidic smoke compared to some other Virginias which makes the citrusy notes sing, but can distract if paired with the wrong beverage. The strength is a hair more than one might expect, but if you're looking for a bulk blend that is all about the highs and the lows, this one might satisfy. For the price, worth a try.

Dan Tobacco - Liberty 50g
Simply Not My Style
Well crafted tobacco that doesn't bite and burned evenly. The tin note was intriguing and indicative of the flavors while smoking. Early in the bowl, the tobaccos shine, but about halfway through the fruit toppings come through stronger and I realized it is not my favorite flavor. If you're interested in cross over blends this is a great candidate with great tobacco that you can taste all the way through. Simply not the right choice for me.

Three Nuns - Three Nuns 1.75oz
Expensive for a Lie
The original blend by this name that was smoked by C.S. Lewis was a VaPer, this is a DFK/Burley blend that has little in common with its namesake and uses its name to justify exorbitant prices. If you want a blend close to Lewis's, there are plenty of options, if you want a good DFK/Burley blends there are also plenty of options. Save your money.

A Fitting Commemoration
Released before the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, in reference to an iconic moment in our revolution and the heritage of the Carolinas, this is a perfect commemoration for this site, its companies and its heritage. It should cellar well and I will enjoy it annually for years to come.

The Most Versatile English
One of the only blends I would describe as a 'must try'. Absolutely no rough edges, extremely tolerant of cadence and pack method, perfect moisture right out of the tin. The latakia is prominent but doesn't sublimate the other varietals. A well balanced English by itself, the 'mysterious spice' elevates it beyond its peers. This is not an aromatic, but the ginger zing and mouthfeel was instantly recognizable, and turns this blend into the most versatile English I've smoked. I will happily turn to this no matter the weather or time of year. If you're an English or Balkan fan that wants a little more pep in your step, this blend will have you coming back again and again.

Mac Baren - Navy Flake 3.5oz
A Flawed Favorite
With a bit of age the tin note smells to me exactly like Martinelli's sparkling cider. The balance of richness and sweetness in the Burleys and Virginia kept me coming back for more and were perfectly complimented by a honey like sweetness and some complexity from the rum. Its a few steps heavier than some Navy Flakes and at its best tastes like honey on toast. It was fairly temperamental, however, and sharp edges came out relatively easily. For a sipping tobacco, I was in love, but am heartbroken by the price.

Low Country - Natural Virginia
Decent Flavor, Great Value
A haylike/bready Virginia with enough Red Virginia to add some interest. There is more complexity (and strength) than I expected. The sweetness comes and goes with method, aftertaste is pleasant and leaves a noticeably comfortable mouth feel. Great choice for a bulk Virginia, with enough depth to be versatile. Incredible for the price.
