Rattray's - Bagpiper's Dream 100g
So rich and burns very different
Mixture of different cuts burns different but makes it interesting. Cognac flavor blends with the tobacco very well to enhance the flavor without totally covering the tobacco. Very rich and complex.
Cornell & Diehl - Firebird Flake 2oz
OK, but didn't work for me
I went into this blend excited about the aged Orientals that are part of it. I like Dark Fired Kentucky but it seemed to take over everything to where the aged Orientals are not noticeable much at all. The only thing I could tell is there is a slight taste note that comes off like green pepper that I think might come from the orientals. It's good but I was a little disappointed.
Cornell & Diehl - Blockade Runner 2oz
Incredible smoke
I personally love when I find a good rum that I can sip like a whiskey(They are few and far between). Blockade runner is a big hit for me. One sniff from the tin and you can tell that you are not dealing with a fake rum flavoring, but rather the real deal. Plenty of sweetness and a lot of zest as well. Notes of vanilla and caramel. I am not sure where the caramel comes from, the rum or the stoving of the tobacco but it is there and it is great. This is my first crumble cake and I like it. The pressing of the cake definitely mixes the flavors really well.
Cornell & Diehl - Morning Light: Boker Or 2oz
A fantastic non aromatic
Smells great right out of the tin. Reminiscent of raisins, plums or dark fruit. Smokes very well and is extremely pleasant. Fruit flavors are there and still prominent but there is also a pleasant spice that accentuates the other flavors there. Very flavorful smoke and didn't need a lot of relights. I can't say enough about how the perique and the orientals work together in this blend.
