Poor man's Lee Van Cleef
" This train will stop at Tucomcari"....Until someone makes a Meerschaum just like Lee Van Cleef used, this will have to do. I like the dirty yellow ivory color of the stem,and paired with a 9mm White Elephant charcoal filter, the Ambra sandblasted #105 is a smooth smoking investment and now a personal favorite.

Old fashioned simplicity
I just received a half pound of this and I don't regret the purchase. It's a simple,peppery,strong in nicotine old fashioned natural tobacco. I just smoked a bowl hot and still enjoyed it.I also think that it has a great room note. Not many people mentioned that in the reviews,but I found it to be nice.

It just simply smells and tastes great
I'm not very sophisticated in my descriptions and this review will reflect on that. I opened up the tin,closed my eyes and took a whiff. My first thought? " Damn,that smells good." I then got my new Molina bent apple #105 on fire. My first thought on the flavor? "Damn, that tastes good."....It drives me crazy that I can't express how it smells in the tin, because it's somehow familiar to me. I don't know why or how it's familiar, it just is. The room note will definitely be acceptable to those who don't smoke. Try it at least once if you like a fine aromatic. I'm looking forward to the next smoke tomorrow morning.I've already had three pipes full today and I need to reluctantly hit brakes for the time being. I'll be ordering two more cans soon while it's still available.

Rattray's - Red Lion 100g
Gets better with each chamber
I'm not the best at describing tobacco notes, but this Red Lion continues to grow on me with each session. I easily suffer from tongue bite,but if I let this sit out for about an hour, I have no problem with it. I'm currently using a bent Dublin Clement pipe from St. Claude (estate purchase from this great site)that has a large chamber, and Red Lion behaves excellent in it. It tastes delicious from the start, and slowly gets better as it burns. I tend to smoke heavy if I'm enjoying the flavor( tannen,green tea,herbs at first, then the Cavendish shows up)With this blend,I can puff away without getting stung. For me personally, each smoke is more enjoyable than the last. It's worth a try for an easy, anytime day smoke. It plays nice with my chemistry, and I'll definitely be ordering more when the opportunity comes.

Chewy, creamy, leathery dark sweetness
A previous reviewer mentioned creosote,and I thought at first that was a strange descriptor, but that's what jumped out at me. Smokey bbq creosote. It's just the simple nature of how the tobacco was processed. To me,it's rich from the get go,with little development during the chamber burn. It's nothing like I've ever tasted, but it is sometimes very enjoyable, depending on the mood.. I pick up a little sweetness, but it's devilishly dark and smokey. This is some interesting stuff that I will continue to stick with and try to understand further. Considering how rare the technique is in preparing the tobacco ,that alone is worth keeping a little glass jar tucked back in the drawer for a cold night.
