Daughters & Ryan - Three Sails 16oz
Tip for my Chinese Brothers
This tobacco is like a blank canvas for making you own tasty mild aromatic. I use fresh sambac jasmine buds to hydrate this tobacco to make rolling easier. Sometimes some corsican mint for menthol. It makes the smoke hit smooth with nice body. I'd imagine doing this with osmanthus, apricot flowers, or Michaelia Champaca would be delicious. Osmanthus is going to be my next experiment.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Gold #18 - Peach
Good in a bowl, Great RYO
This tobacco is smooth. It packs nicely in a pipe and stays lit without much effort. It tastes like high quality tobacco with a hint of natural peach flavor. Doesn't bite, even when I power chief on my lunch break. Room note is just tobacco, I don't detect any peach. Where it really shines is RYO. The shag cut, perfect moisture, and lack of stems makes a beautiful cigarette. I use rice papers and add a filter. It's one of the few tobaccos here that I want to take a fat drag to the lungs. Much better quality and taste than the RYO I used to smoke like Bali shag or American Spirit.
Daughters & Ryan - Ryback 16oz
Excellent blending tobacco
I've only used it as a RYO so far. By itself it's a decent medium bodied cigarette, but nothing too special. Taste similar to bali shag, but much more natural. When I blended in 1/4 -1/5 Izmir Turkish and a super light sprinkling of granulated Perique rolled in rice paper with a filter, it was the best cigarette I've ever had. Even just the Turkish, this went from good enough to very good. Occasionally, even mix a tiny bit of very cherry(too loud for the pipe). I live in CA and used to smoke American Spirits @$12+ a pack.
Peterson - Royal Yacht 50g
Figs and light vanilla
I just got back into pipe smoking. Of all the samples of different brands and types of blends I bought, this one is my favorite. Very little to almost no bite, sweet mellow room note, and a well balanced flavor that gets sweeter as to bowl progresses.
