Per Jensen - Legacy Collection: Port Guardian 2oz
Bold without the Bite
As someone who is still relatively new to pipe smoking, I was pleasantly surprised by how approachable Per Jensen's Port Guardian was. I picked it up because I heard fantastic things about it. I smoked it fresh from a newly opened tin in my Vauen Harlekin. The flakes were a little on the moist side at first, but after about 10 minutes of drying, it was ready to pack! I was worried the tobacco was going to be difficult to keep lit, but after the initial charring light, it stayed burning with almost no effort. Upon opening the tin, I was met with a bold aroma and noticeable sweetness and citrus notes. The smoke itself was just as enjoyable. It burned cool all the way through. Best of all, for someone still developing their cadence, this gave me absolutely no tongue bite! The flavor was consistent from beginning to end. It's definitely a full-flavored blend with sweetness leading the way, followed by a subtle spicy finish that kept things interesting without overwhelming the palate. Since I'm still fairly new to the hobby, I don't have many blends to compare it to yet, but I think anyone who enjoys bold, flavorful tobaccos would appreciate this one. It's satisfying without being difficult to smoke, which makes it surprisingly welcoming for newer pipe smokers as well. Looking forward to smoking more bowls with it and seeing how the flavors develop as it ages.

Subtle Flavor
I genuinely enjoyed this aromatic. The smell when you first pop the tin definitely hits you with peaches. The flavor is light and subtle when you actually smoke it, which I enjoy. Its definitely going to be one of my favorite morning smokes.
