Rattray's - Beltane's Fire Smooth Contrast (9mm)
Great Smoker, Comfortable Shape
This pipe is my first Rattray and Rhodesian. What stood out to me was how well it kept lit and how comfortable in the hand it is partly due to its size and shape, but also because of it's robust build--never got scalding hot, just warm. The extra two stems are a nice touch. The pipe and group of stems come in their own black, velvety bag. The color of my pipe is a bit lighter than the picture, which is a deep reddish brown. Mine almost reminds me of a tiger color and pattern. It looks more painted on than stain that reveals the natural briar grain. I can't verify that though. Possibly, sanding it would reveal that, but it looks and works good enough to leave it as it is. This pipe works so well, I'll consider another Rattray and even a Rhodesian style. Smoking Pipes did a fine job of packaging and shipping also. No complaints.
