Gladora - Pesse Canoe Latakia Flake 20 50g
? biltong
Was looking forward to this one. All I got was a tin of crispy dry leaf. First time trying it and wondering if I got a bad tin. It shouldn't look and feel as dry as biltong, am I wrong? I do get tree bark and notes of plum. It's so dry there is no difficulty in it staying lit. This one is a disappointment.

A Good Blend Without Sweetness
Very surprised with this one. The aroma off the tin is a great example of tobacco without all the coverings, toppings, and such. Inhaling the aroma off a fresh tin is delightful. It was reminding me of Chelsea Morning without the sweetness and much drier on the mouth and tin. It packs easily without having to give it much tampering and lights right up without fuss. The latakia is not overpowering imo. Virginia pops it's head in right when you want some and the Oriental brings in the much desired spice. The bold of the blend is spot on, it is a refined and mature smoke that gives me thoughts of a tobacco at its desired maturity. It's a faithful blend when you want to smoke without all the fuss. It burns down to the bottom of the bowl without issue. If you like bold mature tasting tobacco without covers, this is a really good one.

A sweet morning leaf mixture
Upon opening the tin you nose is greeted with a lite English/Balkan note and floral honey. If it's not topped with a honey then the Orientals are shining through nicely. There is a very small sense of Perique that comes through here and there while smoking, but those Orientals and Virginia' shine through the bowl. The smoke is light and creamy throughout the smoking experience. This tobacco mix is great with a cup of coffee or an English tea. I wouldn't keep it as an all day smoke, it's a good starter for rookies and the veterans and keeps lit well for an enjoyable pipe. I smoked this in my workhorse, Let Freedom Ring pipe. An additional note, the Latakia is slightly present and if you are looking for more, this is not it. GLP put this together well. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Great English
A fresh 2025 tin is so good. I like everything about it. Tins note is spot on and the first few draws after the initial light is wonderful. This is a great starter or nightcap. I prefer mine with black cardamom coffee. Keep them coming. Can't wait for 2026.

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2oz
So delicious
I like everything about it. Tin note, color palette, how it breaks apart and the smell it leaves in the air; all of this before it is even lit. IMO, it beats Steamworks. The vinegar note is lovely. The tobacco fires up so easily and the Perique is top notch, hits me where I want it and tastes oh so good all the way through. Bottom of the bowl is heaven in tobacco terms. Glad I stocked this one up with multiple tins for the next couple of years. Can't wait for the sister tin in 2026. It's the Perique, add more please😁.

Cornell & Diehl - Steamworks 2oz
a very good average
The tin note is real nice. Packing this leaf in the bowl is easy work. Immediately on the first draw the sweetness pops. The Orientals are buried in there and let themselves be known here and there. Correction: there is Perique and it hit nice on the second day. This tobacco blend puts out a lot of smoke even when you smoke it down into the bowl. I will let it sit a couple of weeks before my next bowl and will do a follow up. As for the immediate opening to smoke this is at best average, imo. Maybe with some time in the cellar it will improve. Smoked out of a MM Let Freedom Ring with a nice heap of leaf popping over the top. I have changed my rating up a notch. I do like the tobacco, reminds of sweet tea. I wish I would have bought 5, not 3. Always next year! Updated 3/26/26: Had another smoke, and man was I ever getting toasted marshmallows and roasted coconut all over the entire bowl with a nice dose of perique. This was delicious. Bumped up the rating!

Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop Cake 2oz
You can have your cake and smoke it too
This tin smells great, can't get enough. Although I could go for a bit more intensity on the tin note. This cake smokes so smoothly and required minimal relights getting to the bottom of the bowl. I truly enjoyed the mustiness, dustiness, old school library antiquey charm in this tobacco, but found the flavor too fleeting on many of the pulls. There is something missing that can't put it over the top for me, however I will have this in my inventory at all times. April 02, 2026, I need this in a 16oz slab. It hits the taste buds so well at 6 months that I want to age more leaf longer. That Perique sits nicely in front giving off old school Euro black bread notes.

Warped - The Haunting Cake 2oz
Received, not yet opened
Fast shipping. Excellent service. I have not opened it yet, but soon.. I have come back to update this posting. I don't know why this is not a hotter selling tin. The tin note is smooth. If you like cigars and the sweet Virginia pipe tobacco this is a good one for smoking and cellaring. The sweet Virginia's along with the cigar leaf is a nice relaxing mix. There is a pleasant velvety earthiness with this cake. Mouth feel is smooth and so is the overall smoke experience. The tobacco is easy to maintain once in the bowl as not much work is needed with relights or tamping. Moisture level is spot on and the cake is easy to punch off a near perfect measure the first time. Putting some time on the tin will be interesting.
