Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - American Delite
Nice and light aromatic - no filter
It has a light taste and smells good. I like my vanilla aromatics, and American Delite is better than GH Vanilla. It’s sometimes bland. For me it tasted best from a non-filter pipe (even a 6mm with the filter removed didn’t taste like much). Good moisture level, I smoked direct from the tin with no drying time. Would buy again. If you’re looking for a strong aromatic this is not it though.

Low Country - Natural Virginia

Best thing about this is the price point and that's what gets it to 4 stars. Fresh and unaged from the bag, the flavor is mild virginia, with the standard tea flavor and lighter on the citrus. I've smoked it a number of times now with different drying times, and I think the moisture and cut (very long ribbon) are already good to go from the bag. It does not bite, but if you don't sip it slow you'll have a hot pipe and little flavor. I have 8 oz aging, will revisit next year!

Prince Albert - Prince Albert 14oz

My favorite codger. Sweet, but the least sweet of them all. Old Joe Krantz is another one of my favorites, in order to give you an idea of my tastes. There’s a black cavendish version of OJK, but I prefer the flavor of this. I can smoke it all day. If room note/smell is a concern for you, Prince Albert does not smell nice.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Vanilla
Not what I’m looking for
Good room note, it lights well, doesn’t bite, but the flavor is lacking. If I smoked this blind I’m not sure I could identify it as vanilla. It doesn’t taste bad, just doesn’t taste like much. I tried it every which way over the course of several months (during which the jar fogged up heavily). I think I gave it a fair shot and there’s not much there. I prefer American Delite—which is also a light aromatic but is more flavorful. And I just use this as sweet black cavendish.

Sir Walter Raleigh - Aromatic 1.5oz
Simple and good
The flavor is simple and consistent light maple. It’s flavorful enough to keep you interested, but one bowl is enough. This practically smokes itself, it burns well but also not too fast or hot. It is $5.35/oz though. I would rather go with Autumn Evening or Bradyville.
