Cornell & Diehl - Sun Bear Bourbon Cask 2oz
Best small batch I’ve had from C&D!
Such a complex and pleasing blend. The tin note is amazing. Very sweet and bready with fig and bourbon rounding out the aroma. I thought this would be the best note, but I was wrong. The room note is the best I’ve ever smelled. Do not go too far out on your porch as the breeze will carry away a nice element of this blend. The boozy bourbon is there, but my word, the HONEY is very present. Makes me think of Winnie the Pooh and his honeypot. Wow! The Virginias are also nice in the aroma. Flavor is good, but gets even better as the bowls burns down further. The bourbon shines through and accents the typical red/golden Virginia flavor. The honey is in the after taste. Slight but there if you’re looking for it. Also present is the flower the honey was made from. Slight floral aftertaste, but barely noticeable. This is a good first-smoke-of-the-day blend. Something to have before adulterating your palette with food or other cheap blends. I worry none of these tins will age before I gobble them up.

Peterson - Irish Cask 50g
Meh
Virginias are normally a subtle delight. The Cavendish in this blend mutes the already-subtle Virginias to the point that it is a mediocre experience. I can detect the sherry a little, and the room note is actually decent, so I wouldn’t say this is a bad blend. However, it will likely become a de facto cellared blend from lack of use.

This blend comes extremely close to CS Lewis’s favorite, Three Nuns, but at half the price. Well done, GLP.

If I could only have one…
This would be the tobacco I’d choose if I could only have one. The flavor profile is amazing.
