BriarWorks - Smokehouse 2oz
Finally what I've wanted
I've been hunting for a DFK and latakia blend that you can actually taste them in. The DFK brings a wonderful grilled steak flavor while the Virginia leaf brings the sweetness. The latakia brings exactly what you want from a strong latakia blend, flavor! The Virginia takes a back seat to the DFK and the latakia is trying to take the wheel! The jar lasted me just under a week
Cornell & Diehl - Manhattan Afternoon 2oz
Not bad, not great but still good
This is exactly what you should expect from a young Virginia. Hay, grass, mildly sweet. The honey adds a mild note of sugar sweetness. I'm not sure if age is the answer, my tin was just under a year old, but it couldn't hurt.
Cornell & Diehl - Firebird Flake 2oz
Not worth buying again
I bought 2 tins last year and the way it was described, sounded amazing. To say I was disappointed would be a understatement. I'm not going to bash it, I'll just say that the taste falls flat in the flavor department and I'm not sending out a search party to find "subtle nuances".

Just okay
I fell for the youtube hype on this one. It's the LOTR tobacco! It's incredible! It was everyone's go to blend on set! I don't know why, at best it's lacking any real flavor notes. You occasionally trick yourself into thinking you taste molasses or nougat but not really. It smells great in the bag and a pleasant room note, so if you're smoking it for others around you, it's okay. If you're smoking it for yourself, I would rather grab Autumn Evening. So don't be like me and buy into the LOTR nerd, YT presenters and listen to Public Enemy instead. Don't Believe the Hype!
Peterson - Nightcap 50g
Best blend on a cold night
This is a daily blend for me in winter. The smokiness of the latakia really takes center stage from the moment you open the tin. The sweetness from orientals and Virginias help the latakia shine while the perique gives just enough spice to let you know it's there. Peterson/ Dunhill definitely nailed the proper ratios. Perfect for anytime of day and whether you're a coffee or tea drinker, this blend will pair well with either.
Peter Heinrichs - Dark Strong Flake 200g
No DFK this year
It's a Virginia and black Cavendish blend with no DFK this year. I bought it because I love DFK and this WAS an exceptional blend. Now it's just another Virginia. Unfortunately there are better Virginias out there so if you missed out on getting any, you're the lucky one. Would of been nice if Smoking Pipes would of updated their description so I wouldn't of waited a half hour to be able to log in and buy something I wasn't wanting.
Rivertown Tobacco Works - Sir Vanderberry
Nice aromatic
This is a pleasant aromatic, I didn't really pick up vanilla notes but the undefined berry note is there. Kind of a strawberry-ish/ raspberry-ish flavor to me that lasted almost all the way thru. The moisture level was moist right out of the bag. Not goopy, Lit easy and smoked well with having to relight less than a lot of other aromatics.
Rivertown Tobacco Works - Oak & Ember
Decent blend
So I thought I'd give it a try and glad I did. It's nothing special nor anything terrible. It's a little spicy, nutty and a hint of sweetness in the background. To be honest, I'm just going to stick with Haunted Bookshop and Pegasus as my bulk Burley purchase.
Cobblestone - Indulge Walnut Maple Pie 1.5oz
Warm and fuzzy
The tin note is much stronger than what you actually taste. The maple comes thru but the walnut takes over on the retrohale. It gave me that warm and fuzzy memory of eating hotcakes on a winter morning. I keep this on hand for those days I need a break from Autumn Evening but they are very similar.
