Cornell & Diehl - Fires on the Levee 2oz
Master Blend
In my opinion Jeremy Reeves is a master at the art of blending tobacco, the best in the business. If you don't care for this blend don't begrudge the blender. Perhaps Unc would like to try other sites and leave Jeremy's excellent product to those who appreciate it.
Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning
Top Bulk Blend
One of the best of the bulks I have had from this site. It is a great change from the many English blends I usually gravitate toward. Strength seems more 4 than 3. This could be the perfect blend to introduce cigar smokers to the world of pipe; it does not taste one bit like cigar leaf but it represents well the blender's art. Give me a large supply of Bayou Morning and Bayou Evening and I will be happy on any desert island. Thanks to reviewer The HP for the outstanding work he did on the C&D bulk project. He has been spot-on with his ratings. I trust his judgment since he appears to be a NC or VA tobacco farmer. He recommends Bayou Morning and so do I.
F&K - Lancer Ready Rubbed
Agree with Other Reviewers, It Is Sublime
A very nice surprise. Despite having only two ingredients nothing is missing. Big boy flavor but not what I would call strong, and no bite. Smoke it after dinner or I can't taste my food. Perhaps it is extra mellow because it is aged for some time prior to blending. I gravitate toward English blends, with From Beyond as my desert island choice, but I can smoke this one until FB is back in stock.
Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop
Not For Me
These comment are for the bulk version. This seems like a high quality version of Sir Walter Raleigh, if you like that one. I was hoping for more VA but it was barely noticeable. Rating this 3.0 due to C&D's high quality of production. It does not suit my palate, too savory, even my least favorite English blend is a perfect 10 compared to this.
Arango - Balkan Supreme
Best Bulk Blend English
Best bulk bend English I have found, as good as McClelland English blends from days bygone. Who the heck is Arango?
G. L. Pease - Haddo's Delight 2oz
Peter S's Delight
Wonderful flavor and copious amounts to smoke. The small amount of ash was surprising and a testament to this blend. Smoke in a small pipe if you don't want a nicotine problem. Slight tongue burn, but worth it.
G. L. Pease - Lagonda 2oz
Indescribably Good
Extremely good but hard for me to describe exactly why. At first it tasted like any excellent Balkan, but it developed into something so much more. The blender's aging process takes it to another level, and like a good whiskey it develops a wonderful character. This would not be my desert island smoke but it is definitely an addition to my rotation to keep things interesting. Will buy more.
Cornell & Diehl - From Beyond 2oz
Just What I Was Looking For
From Beyond is what I wanted the best McClellands to taste like but never did. Jeremy recommended this to me and it is the best of this style I have ever had. Just sold out on line but I put a couple of tins away for a rainy day. Gave a can to my preacher but now I want it back. Update for 2025 release: Just as good as the 2023 version, nearly identical as far as I can tell. Unc wrote that he tasted nasty grape flavor but I detected none of this in the tin note or smoke. Compare this one to Lancer RR but with less latakia influence or Plantation Evening with some nice age to it. This is still my favorite English mixture and C&D has surpassed McClellands as my all-time favorite brand.
