Cornell & Diehl - Dreams of Kadath 2oz
Strong, yet flawed
This one didn’t agree with me. Admittedly, it took me a few bowls to learn how to cut it. A newly sharp box cutter does the trick. Now, once you’ve got it perfectly sliced and rubbed to whatever texture you prefer, you’ll find it doesn’t like to take fire. Maybe if it sits around for a while? As to flavor, it smells of rotten fruit and smooshed raisins, and the smoke is a bit harsh. But the biggest thing for me is the nic hit. It’s just too much, like I’ve smoked two cigars while chewing a dip of Copenhagen. Bleh. I don’t need to try this one again.

Superb Holiday Smoke!
Warm and comforting, this tobacco invokes thoughts of sitting by the fire in a comfortable chair after a satisfying Christmas dinner, illuminated tree in the corner, and Bing Crosby crooning on the hi-fi. As I draw thoughtfully upon my stoked churchwarden, I reflect on the ease and convenience provided by smoking pipes.com, in providing me with this most enjoyable smoke.

Edward G. Robinson - Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend 1.5oz
Too plain for me.
I do enjoy Mr Robinson’s work on the silver screen, but I am less impressed by his pipe blend. My taste tends more to bolder, spicier flavors, with thick, comforting smoke. This blend is more nuanced. It’s definitely cool-burning, and produces thin smoke. I found it difficult to keep lit, but I think this is something that might fix itself once I figure out how to pack it properly. It’s a different cut, and the usual “light, medium, hard pack” technique is not optimal for this blend.

Rated “Most Arcane” by the Necronomicon
This a delightful, bookish smoke. To be enjoyed with a bold dark-roast coffee, a roaring fire, and a dog-eared classic novel.

Cornell & Diehl - Visions of Celephaïs 2oz
Gibbous aromatic
When purchasing a tobacco, I try not to let the reviews that I read sway my opinion one way or the other. Instead, I attempt to glean what tidbits of information I can from the various descriptions relayed from my fellow pipe enthusiasts, and compile an amalgamation of characteristics that the subject blend is likely to possess. In this case, GRAPE seems to be the operative word, and deservedly so. However, I do not feel like this standout flavoring ruins this smoke. Rather, I feel the intent of the blend is to create higher, perfume-y note over a warm base of comforting tobacco, much like its ethereal namesake. In my opinion, this intended effect is accomplished, rendering a blend that is out of the ordinary, and is certainly not going to be to the liking of everyone. For my part, I enjoy it when I crave something different.

Pleasant, everyday English
When I first opened the can on this one, I was a little off-put by the aroma, as it reminded me of a cow pasture. However, after one or two bowls the delightful grassy, earthy character won me over. Now the can aroma is something I look forward to, as it calls to mind many a summer day, growing up in the country, helping my neighbor bale hay for his dairy farm. It was hard work, but at the end of the day, we’d sit around a bonfire, drinking Mountain Dew and telling stories. Those were good times… Anyway, that’s why I like it. Maybe it can do the same for you.
