When I received this pipe, the bowl did not have a hole bored through to the stem. There was a start of one in the bowl but it did not go through all the way so there was no air flow. I emailed support about it, with pictures, and they sent this as recompense: "Have you tried a bristle or stiffer pipe cleaner to see if one of those would go through?" If you want to drill out the holes on your pipe yourself then this is the pipe for you.
