La Flor Dominicana - Capitulo II
Not a cigar guy....
But by golly this stick is out of this world. Being a pipe smoker, it reminds me of a nicely aged Red Virginia blend. I kept going back to my B&M, grabbing a stick at a time and finally decided to just get a box from smoking pipes. Since getting my box this morning I am now a couple of sticks down so I guess I should just grab another box before I run out. This is the perfect summer stick for when smoking my pipe outside in the heat is too challenging.
Cornell & Diehl - Folklore 16oz
Very Unique
As soon as this arrived on my door step, I loaded it up into my trustee Cob and to my disappointment I found that the flavor and the smell of the tobacco were not one in the same. The "tin note" was a deep smoked fruit/ spiced wine which I was excited about. The flavor however was just all over the place and didn't come together at all, so I jarred it up and forgot about it. A few months later I had acquired a couple of ounces through a trade, jarred it up and left it until November. Now I'm not sure if the cooler weather or the Thanksgiving spirit had an affect on it but when I smoked it this time around, it was everything I had hoped for, I tasted the different tobaccos but they played extremely well together which triggered the memory of taking the leftovers from the Thanksgiving meal and making sandwiches out of it. This blend is one of my favorite Small Batches. Grab yourself a brick next time if you missed out or where on the fence.
Sutliff - Ready Rubbed Match
Top 10 Blend
This blend got me into Burleys and I am thankful for it opening up my eyes to me enjoying and understanding other codger blends, but this is my favorite codger style blend. Sad to see that it is no longer available.
Cornell & Diehl - Epiphany 2oz
Nothing like the sutliff version
While I knew it wasn't going to be a match of the sutliff match, I didn't think it would be this terrible. The 1st third is ok the flavor is decent but after that it taste like I'm smoking dottile and ash. I tried it in a variety of chamber sizes and shapes and its just a no from me dawg.

Desert Island Blend
This is an excellent tobacco. Scratches my itch for the need of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match. Super affordable (hopefully I didnt let the cat out of the bag) and there is never a dull moment. All the components work extremely well together and for me an all day smoke. In the morning with coffee in the afternoon with a liquid lunch of Bourbon and a great after dinner smoke if you are looking for something sweet with a little extra. My goal is to have 20 tins of this in the cellar. I wonder how it will age, please do a Tasting Notes on this one soon or dont and keep it accessible.
Cornell & Diehl - Sun Bear Navy Cask 2oz
My First Sun Bear Experience
I feel like I won the Lottery every time I smoke this blend. From the tin note to the moisture to the end of the bowl everything is just perfect. I can actually taste every flavor nuance throughout the smoke and for this being my first Sun Bear its like iI jumped on the best iteration of it and I kick myself every time i smoke this blend because i didnt grab more/ all the tins in the world. Great motherlovin job Jeremy and everyone involved right down to the people packing and labeling the tins.
Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Just an average VaPer
I know everyones tastes are different, but to me this is nothing special at all. Good, not great. This blend has nothing on Elizabethan Mixture, Escudo, De Lux Navy Rolls, or any other along that path. It is much to light and falls flat after the first third of the bowl and doesnt really have that magic most VaPers have. I would dub this blend as a yardwork/ watching the kids play at the park blend and i dont think aging will make it any better than what it is right now. I guess that means more for the rest of yall.
Dan Tobacco - Salty Dogs 50g
Top 5 VaPer
Seriously good stuff. I get a deep rich flavors of vanilla, which I'm guessing is from the rum, some sort of caramel, and figs all playing together like perfect pre schoolers. Used a cigar cutter to get thin stips and let them dry for around 5 minutes packed my pipe and let that sit for another 10 minutes. The flavors popped out instantly and remained there the entire bowl. A few charing lights and a real light and I never had to light it again. Just amazing 👏
Cornell & Diehl - Cross-Eyed Cricket 2oz
A Wonderful Surprise
I love a good english aromatic, Sutliff 504c being one of my favorites (RIP), but this tin was bought way before I figured that out and boy am I glad that I did. This blend can be smoked in all four seasons and to me its more Aromatic (Gladys Knight) with the English being more in the background (and the Pips) making a beautiful smoking experience. its a creamy, berry, sweet cream, smokey, rum (in that order) flavor that you cant ever forget. The tin note needs to be made into a candle or car fragrance stat. I will not be without this blend ever.
Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
Lives up to the hype
Wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I bought one tin, silly me, from the second puff I was hooked. It had this tootsie roll pop thing going on that I couldn't get enough of. I think I smoked through this tin within a week, which is record time for me. I will definitely not be without this blend ever in life.
Capstan - Flake Blue 1.75oz
Wow
This is what I imagine God to smoke if she does smoke at all. What more can I say that hasn't already been said. About halfway through the bowl this intense caramel/graham cracker/vanilla/ Willy Wonka flavor just explodes in your mouth and makes you want to really puff harder and faster because omg its so delicious but don't do that just keep sipping, sit back and enjoy that magic. One day this will go on sale somewhere and I will be buying a truck load if the recipe stays the same
Newminster - No. 400 Superior Navy Flake
Decent
Nothing like the legendary capstan blue that some are comparing it with. Picked up around 4oz from smokingpipes.com, which was pretty fresh, along with 8oz from my local B&M, which was aged atleast a few years by the color of it which was crazy dark. I smoked both side by side and came to the conclusion that this blend is great for snow shoveling, yard work, or the routine drive to work. Not much going on with flavors for me at least even with the aged stuff. I'll buy a couple pounds if I can just to have around because word on the street is this is being discontinued which is unfortunate... DAMN YOU STG AND SUTLIFF
Newminster - No. 403 Superior Round Slices
Sad to see it go 😢
This blend is absolutely amazing although it can bite if smoked even remotely too quick. Gives off a nice cloud of smoke and many like the room note even my wife likes this room note more than alot of other blends I smoke (mainly Englishes). It has a slight raisin taste along with that bready, hay taste. Hate that its leaving but I have over 5lbs so I should be good for a while.
Sutliff - Revelation Match
Just damn good
I am currently smoking this as I am typing and let me tell you its just *chefskiss* my rotation currently is this, plum pudding, and emp. I want to get into the holiday spirit with all these Christmas blends I've bought but just can't let revelation match go. When I get off of work and jump into the car I light this bad boy up before I even put on my seat belt and enjoy every red light and stop sign along my way home. I will be buying a couple of pounds 1 1/2 to cellar ( I want to see what happens with time) and the rest to sit back and relax with.
Lane Limited - 1-Q
Go to aro
From my first puff alone I knew this was a special blend, great job lane. If I was stuck on a deserted island and I had this blend, a pipe, matches, water, and a gallon jug I would be just fine.

Tasting Notes: Cornell & Diehl Small Batch Sun Bear Bourbon Cask
- ► Buy those $35 ones and move on. You would pay that much at a B&M anyway. I waited in the queue like everyone else, for 50 minutes and was able to get some. You must complain at work to HR about everything huh.
