Delicate Flake or Ready-Rubbed?
Received some tins dated 060126 planning to age them. It says on the website description, as well as the label, 'pressed and sliced into delicate flakes.' Not that it is a big problem, but I was surprised that the tobacco, if it started out a flake, was completely rubbed-out in the tin, nothing even resembling a flake. Unsure if this a new development with the blend or an anomaly. Definitely will benefit a lot from aging - not sure how the aging process will go since it is not in a compressed flake. Decent Virgina right out of the fresh tin. Needs some drying time before smoking.

I generally agree with many reviews by others but for this tobacco, my experience is diametrically opposed to the majority. There really are not many tobaccos I’ve tried in over 40 years that I can’t find at least some redeeming quality. I tried this blend in multiple pipes, fresh, and dried a bit. I had a hard time lighting the tobacco and could not keep this lit. I could put up with that but I had a real problem with the flavor. There was no wonderful plum essence, but instead flavors and aromas that reminded me of kerosene notes. Never experienced that before. Maybe I have a rare gene where I am predisposed to such a reaction. I bought a number of small and large tins of this tobacco and experienced the same across different tins. Most disappointing to say the least.
